What Is a Chevron Living Hinge?
A chevron living hinge is built from arrowhead-shaped cuts. Every chevron has two legs at 45 degrees that meet at the apex and are cut as a single continuous path. Rows alternate between pointing up and pointing down, and every second row is shifted by half a pitch, so the legs of one row run parallel to the legs of the next at a constant distance.

Row Spacing Sets the Flex
A smaller vertical gap nests the rows deeper and puts more cuts across the bend line. If it gets too tight the generator reports overlapping elements—increase the gap or shorten the legs.
Keep the Bridges Wide
The horizontal gap between chevron ends is the load-bearing bridge. Stay at 3 mm or more in plywood; thinner bridges snap when the hinge is bent repeatedly.
Bend Direction
The pattern bends around a horizontal axis. Orient the part so the rows run parallel to the bend line, and align the grain of plywood along the rows.
